This Guy...

...And this would be my reason for speaking up and out.  He claims that there were 'ample red flags' of violence in the mentally ill to have stopped the CT shootings.  Apparently not, if this were so, then why did Mr. Lanza feel the need to shoot his mother first?  And I must add, the guns he used where legally acquired by his first victim.

While I agree that better (much, much better) resources should be made immediately to the mentally ill. For one thing, competent mental health care is currently NOT available in my community.  Does that mean I am prepared to storm the local elementary school?  Absolutely not.  I have come far enough in my journey to know when I need professional support.  Yet, there are far too many who have not progressed in this area.  So then, what is the solution?  I believe the solution starts first in the community.  The most important thing we can each do for one another is to start listening to one another.  Second, those who are capable including friends and family members need to start attending the budget meetings of the local city or town councils.  Mental health care is important, it is time we as Americans stop the needless grieving and start assisting the most vulnerable population among us.
